Bodelwydden Exhibition 4

Here are couple of images from my Emerging Pathways Exhibition at Bodelwydden Castle. I Documented all the sign of small village Tremeirchion on the side of the Clwydian Range

Bodelwydden Exhibition 3

i had a clear view of how I wanted the work to look by filling the wall as you walk into the space capturing the shear volume of the signs in the area

I think I captured all the signs there was just under 40 which coming up with the idea even I was shocked about

Trefnant Sign

I think the tow signs i’ve shown here are the news and oldest that i found. The above sign Pre date the standardisation of British Road Signs by the Worboys Committee of 1963.

Wrecsam Art Vend & Onwards…

So its been a little while shall we say…

Art vend

I found out about the closure of Oriel Wrecsam (probably may favourite gallery) that i have such a connection with. It gave me my first chance to grab at the slippy old balloon of the art bubble dream back in 2008 on selection for the Wrecsam Open. But now revitalised and mowing into pastures new its last Hara was Art Vend. The project selected artist to submit 50 pieces of work to go to vending machines placed around Wrecsam over the next few months. The work I submitted took the form of a Digital Protection locked away in the little plastic casual.  Alongside this sits the brilliant documentary of the gallery in its closing weeks from https://twitter.com/OrielWresidency This was created by Simon Proffitt more of his work can be seen here  A real eye for detail…

Artist in Oriel Gwynedd

Time is flying by with the project over at Oriel Gwynedd, Bangor. You can keep up to speed with the work and what I’m doing here https://tocynnwr.exposure.co I am about to start documenting the closure of the old gallery over the next coming months.

Bodelwydden Castle

I have an Exhibition coming up from 25 April – 5 July 2015 alongside Susan Williams and Wendy Leah Dawson. I have been documenting the many signs of Tremeirchion for such a small village about 1 square mile with over 30 signs that I have managed to documenttre-20tre finals

Helfa Gelf

I’m also making a return to my third Helfa Gelf this year. I will be once again camped out in Haus Of Helfa, Llandudno after receiving confirmation of my work been selected. Think poems rubber bands and 360 degrees

Connect 2

Ffloc has been selected to work on a 3 week residency as part of connect 2 at Aberystwyth Arts Centre during May which will entail a visually projected element and poetry. This is going to be a massive challenge but great fun. This is to evolve into a bigger project IMG_20150327_160545

Manau Coll | Lost Spaces

I was asked to respond to some of the history of Tedder House in Llandudno for Ideas People Places, working alongside Marc Rees, Lisa Carter and Helfa Gelf. Now standing empty stripped back to the bare bricks, all the that remains of the old R.A.F.A Club are stories and a few artefacts amongst the surviving members. After meeting with several people who were involved with the old club I was able to piece together a few memories and bring some of this once great town instution back to life. The work was projected onto a trophy cabinet from the old club on the opening night, and club members were invited to see it, there will be another opportunity to see the film in September during Helfa Gelf.

I’m a Youth Worker for Conwy County Council in Colwyn bay. I’ve been teaching a group of 8 young people about Photography over the past few months as part of Cwl Cymru. We have been working together on their connection or importance of being Welsh. We have photographed in North wales

  • Betws Y Coed
  • Llandudno
  • Llanwrst
  • Colwyn Bay
  • Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
  • Bangor

We also took the group down to Cardiff Bay for a Weekend. Where we also took some photos

We have been lucky to get a space at Oriel Colwyn from the 11th January. Which we are followed by the excellent Tom Wood and Mike McCartney after him. So im really chuffed to be able to finish the project in such style. Make sure you check out http://orielcolwyn.org/ above the theatre and the great work Paul Sampson is doing.

Hopefully see you there

Llandudno Welcomes You

sea

Llandudno welcomes you’ as the sign says reaching the brow to he hill at Penrynside. Always sticks in my mind. Such an iconic sign for the area, hence its recent renovation. However when all the glitz and pomp post extravaganza ad summer merriment. Clandudno becomes a cold lonely place until march. In simple terms we still go about our ways just with more parking spaces. The contestant for me is the sea. It’s always here, always different! The Horizon line never changes. Always when i look out to see it makes me think of Mark Rothko. it cuts you in half

Come and see me at Helfa Gelf (week 2) 14/9/13

‘Risk’ Sale Waterside Arts Centre

risk

Early in the year I applied to be part of a project at Sale Arts Centre through Arts Council England. On selection the course ran over spring/summer. It was structured around artistic talks from established artist Len Grant and Mishka Henner, group discussion and planning for the show. We decided as group to call it ‘Risk’. Which then set off on individual paths to create individual bodies of work. Having a few ideas the one that had the most relevance to me was first evolved in my little brain while visiting the Valleys in South Wales and decimation of culture, heritage and David Cameron favourite word “Community”. In the 80s the Tories swapped everyone’s jobs for crummy industrial estates, so rather than have a trade you can go and work making pizza or box toilet rolls through an agency. The bureaucrats dream!

The problem is they have built that many industrial estates in the North West and North Wales they don’t have enough business to fill their over saturated dream! I took it on myself to find as many of these sites as I could and document them. In this body of work i hope to the finical ‘Risk’ we are hindered with?
