Tweet of the Day: Thomas Dworzak

This image was taken in the war zone of Chechnya. It was taken by Thomas Dworzak a member of Magnum Photography. There is a  punctum to the image you do look twice. On seeing the Holes which are bullet holes you start to question the image more. Obviously the women are shading the sun from their eyes. However it makes me feel like they are cowering from what ever created the holes. The are on the bottom of the wall i presume to be red gives the image a feel of some kind of art deco ship. On studying the face the women seem to be grimacing like they have been given the all clear from a air raid shelter. A simple image so many questions…
